Session 3- Day 5

The Turquoise Group is making flying creatures as this session's special. They are making creatures that fly from nature and their imagination.Once they dry and are fired they will use special paints to finish their look. Wings from various media will be incorporated into the final project.

In ceramics this week, the groups have been sculpting creatures. Once they've dried and are fired, they will be painted and displayed for their parents at the Art Show next Friday.

Today the Orange Group made fish pots. They start by forming a bowl then adding a tail and head and textures to create an original fish.

The Green Group is making ceramic frogs and coin necklaces out of clay.

The frogs are designed with the mouth wide open and tongue sticking out like it just caught its meal. The children chose a stamp to press on the tongue, a fly or bumblebee, as if the frog caught it to eat.
The group also made coin necklaces which they decorated with stamps and any image they wanted to carve into it. A marker cap was used to indent ridges around the sides to made it look like a coin.

The Green Group has also been working on posters of their name. They were free to design their poster using calligraphy and the letters in their name. The posters are very colorful with designs of different shapes and images.
The Green Group made kites today that will actually fly. They cut out the diamond shape of trash bags and used permanent markers to enhanced their designs. Kylie and Christian helped attach dowel rods to the back. They used colorful ribbons for the tail. All they need is kite string and they will be ready to launch next week.

The Blue group are beginning their fairies using Model Magic and wire. Their fairies will fly in individual environments they create. Stay tuned for the finished fairy gardens.
Fish windsocks are looking forward to the colors of the ocean.
