Session 4- Day 1

During this week's special project the children will be creating flying mosaic medallions. The medallions are cut out in the shape of stars, moons, circles and ovals. The children pick two of the four options. One mosaic creation will be taken home and the other will be hung in the Children's Garden. Once they chose their shapes, they then began to glue the colored class pieces with a special adhesive to the medallion. The medallions had a small hole drilled through the top in order for it to be hung.

The Purple Group:

The Blue Group:

The Red Group is making pirate hats and princess crowns this week. The pirates folded their hat from newspaper then enjoyed using paints to make the hat colorful and original. Once the paint dries, they will be able to add a feather and feel like a real pirate!
The children who chose to make crowns had many beautiful options to accessorize their creations. Silk flowers, gold star garland, sheer purple ribbon and curing ribbon was twisted and draped around the crown. When the girls finished their project, they enjoyed wearing the crowns and seeing how pretty they looked in the mirror!

The Orange Group started their afternoon working with oil pastels and watercolors. First, the children drew a picture with oil pastels on white construction paper. After, they used a large paint brush to spread water over the entire page. As the paper is wet, the children chose water colors to paint the background of their portrait. While the paint dries, the oil pastels start to show through revealing their drawing.
